Adriana Medina Báez

Adriana Medina Báez is a Colombian perfumer based in the United States and a Vice President Perfumer at Givaudan’s American fine-fragrance division in New Jersey. Her path into scent bridges two worlds: the lush nature of her native Colombia and the energy of New York, where she studied Biology, completed a Master’s in Cosmetic Science and later joined the Givaudan Perfumery School in 2000.

Starting out as a lab technician and perfumer’s assistant, she gained an intimate understanding of raw materials and analytical work before becoming a junior, then senior fine-fragrance perfumer. Today she leads key projects for Givaudan’s U.S. operation, shaping olfactive identities for niche houses and major international brands and receiving multiple industry accolades in the process.

For Medina, fragrances should evolve like a story, with a clear beginning, tension and resolution, and they should never feel shy: she strives for bold, luminous, emotionally resonant compositions that truly “speak” to the wearer. Drawing on Colombia’s natural splendour, urban life in New York and her love of the borderland between art and science, she creates contemporary, high-impact perfumes that are both technically precise and joyfully expressive.
