Ane Ayo

Ane Ayo is a Spanish perfumer from Bilbao, now based in Paris, whose personality is shaped by a rich mix of European cultures. After a childhood by the ocean in the Basque Country, she went on to study in the UK, spent time in Germany and has been working in France for many years—experiences that taught her to draw inspiration from many different places and ways of life.

Initially she studied Pharmacy, until a newspaper article about master perfumer Alberto Morillas convinced her that fragrance could become her profession. She went on to complete an MBA in perfume and fashion business management and then trained at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery under Philippe Romano, before joining the fine-fragrance world at Firmenich (now dsm-firmenich), having also worked with Mane.

A highly visual creator, Ane is passionate about painting, fashion, dance, fabrics and colour, and enjoys building whole “collections” of scents around a single theme—such as her flower collection “The Flower Shop”, where art, design and fragrance meet. Travel is a major source of inspiration, especially Japan and her beloved holiday island Menorca. Her style often favours fresh, luminous, emotionally engaging compositions, and she describes perfumery as a profession of trust and sharing that allows her to express both her aesthetics and her personality.
