Céline Ellena

Céline Ellena is a French perfumer born and raised in Grasse, coming from a renowned lineage of creators: she is the daughter of Jean-Claude Ellena and a third-generation “nose”. Her childhood was steeped in the world of fragrance, surrounded by tiny bottles and concentrates in the global capital of perfumery, where she began training her sense of smell almost instinctively.

After studying linguistics and psychology, she chose to follow the olfactory path and enrolled at ISIPCA in Versailles. She then became a perfumer for major fragrance groups, working at houses such as Haarmann & Reimer / Symrise and Charabot, and later built an independent career spanning prestige perfumes and everyday products—from niche fragrances to shower gels and sun care for international brands.

In 2005 she took over from her father as in-house perfumer for The Different Company, creating cult favourites like Sel de Vétiver, De Bachmakov and Pure eVe, and later designed home fragrance collections for Hermès alongside other niche collaborations. At the same time, she writes highly personal “scent stories” on her blog, sharing the everyday scenes and emotions that fuel her formulas, and advocates for a perfumery free from strict marketing constraints, focused instead on quality, freedom and imagination.
