Dominique Ropion

Dominique Ropion is a globally acclaimed French master perfumer. Born in Paris in 1955, he trained at the historic Roure Bertrand Dupont school in Grasse, inheriting an olfactive legacy from his family, who were long associated with Roure. Over his career, he has crafted iconic fragrances for houses such as Givenchy, Dior, Lancôme, Mugler, Yves Saint Laurent, and Frédéric Malle.

Ropion is celebrated for his technical precision, artistic sensitivity, and continuous pursuit of olfactive balance. His compositions blend boldness and refinement, creating perfumes that are both recognizable and elegantly structured. His notable works include Ysatis, Amarige, Alien, La Vie Est Belle, Portrait of a Lady, and Vétiver Extraordinaire.

Awarded the title of Master Perfumer in 2018, Ropion’s process fuses science and emotion, memory and creativity. As an essential figure in modern perfumery, he continues to inspire and redefine the art of fragrance.
