Julie Massé

Julie Massé is a French perfumer born in Tokyo, where she lived until the age of five before moving to France. Her earliest scent memories are the dry, woody notes of tatami mats, tea and paper screens, later joined by the flowers and herbs of southern France, where her father’s family—rooted in Grasse and the Roure perfumery school—comes from.

She studied Chemistry and Perfumery at ISIPCA in Versailles and began her career in raw-material quality control, then trained as a junior perfumer under Pierre Bourdon and later alongside Christine Nagel, learning traditional composition techniques while developing a distinctive, finely tuned style.

Since 2010 she has been part of MANE’s fine-fragrance team, creating perfumes for niche houses and international luxury brands. Massé’s signature blends a Japanese sense of lightness and space with Mediterranean warmth: clear, elegant, contemporary structures often inspired by travel, aromatic herbs, green leaves and sunlit florals, designed to feel both refined and quietly addictive on the skin.
