Mackenzie Reilly

Mackenzie Reilly is an American fine-fragrance perfumer at IFF, born and raised in New York. Her love affair with scent began early, watching her mother apply perfume at the vanity, but it was a niche fragrance she discovered as a teenager that convinced her perfume could be a true art form and her future craft.

She studied International Studies with a focus on African studies and French, exploring the anthropology of scent—how fragrance shapes culture, ritual and language—before training at the IFF Perfumery School and pursuing postgraduate work in Grasse on the molecular composition of local plants. Today she creates fine fragrances between New York and Europe for niche houses and international brands.

By the age of 28 she had already lived and worked in France, Italy, Singapore and the Netherlands, a nomadic life that gives her a distinctly cosmopolitan eye. Her signature blends minimalism, natural materials and storytelling: streamlined formulas where every note has a purpose and the goal is to conjure places, textures and memories rather than mere complexity. For Reilly, perfume is emotional architecture—an exercise in balance between structure and poetry that leaves intimate, lasting traces on the skin.
