Núria Cruelles Borrull

Núria Cruelles Borrull is LOEWE’s in-house perfumer – the first female nose in the house’s history – and one of the most distinctive Spanish perfumers of her generation. Born in Catalonia and trained as a chemist, she later specialised in luxury and oenology before entering the fragrance world, beginning her career at a major international fragrance company and eventually joining LOEWE in 2018.

A full member of Spain’s Academia del Perfume, where she holds the “Narcissus” chair, Cruelles brings a rare combination of skills: she is not only a perfumer but also an oenologist and sommelier, translating the vocabulary of wine —structure, balance, texture and pairing— into the universe of scent. This multidisciplinary approach has earned her recognition as one of the 500 most influential women in Spain.

Nature is always her starting point, guided by a pronounced synaesthesia: when she smells an ingredient, she sees colours, shapes and textures, composing her fragrances almost like sculptures of light and matter. Working with classic perfumery materials —woods, resins, flowers, aromatic herbs— she creates contemporary formulas in which emotion, craftsmanship and colour blend into vibrant compositions for both skin and home.

As LOEWE’s nose, she has been instrumental in defining the brand’s olfactory DNA, from its botanical fragrance lines to the signature Loewe accord built around Spanish rockrose and leather craft heritage. Her creative style is marked by “real smells”, richly textured structures and a subtle balance between vegetal, mineral and tactile facets, always rooted in artisanal know-how and a bold, experimental mindset.
