Ralf Schwieger

Ralf Schwieger is a German perfumer who grew up in rural Westphalia, fascinated by quiet winters, forests and the almost “silent” smell of fresh snow. While studying chemistry he discovered the unique interplay between science and art in perfumery, went on to specialise in fragrance chemistry in Berlin and later trained at the Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school in Grasse.

After an initial spell in chromatography and raw material analysis, he joined fine-fragrance teams in Paris and built an international career with major fragrance houses, eventually becoming a leading perfumer at Mane and collaborating with both luxury brands and niche fragrance houses. Schwieger often describes his creative approach as a two-part game: an intellectual, conceptual phase followed by a longer journey of sensory research, where the perfume is refined directly on skin.

His signature is both architectural and tactile, balancing airy transparency with intimate, skin-like warmth, frequently exploring mossy, woody and subtly animalic facets with a vintage yet sophisticated twist. He draws inspiration from the dynamic triangle of art, science and industry, as well as from nature, contemporary dance, cooking and the delicate textures of everyday life.
