Serge de Oliveira

Serge de Oliveira is a French perfumer whose career began in 2002 as an assistant at IFF, where he fell in love with raw materials—especially woody notes such as vetiver and patchouli—under the guidance of perfumer Richard Ibanez. He later joined Robertet in Grasse, becoming a perfumer in 2013 before moving to the Paris creative centre, where he now works across both fine fragrance and functional scent projects.

Widely regarded as an “author perfumer” rooted in natural perfumery, his work is defined by artisanal compositions that balance complexity with understated elegance. For de Oliveira, anything can spark a perfume—urban landscapes, mineral surfaces, forest walks—each formula conceived as a small story on the skin rather than just a pleasant smell.

He collaborates with niche houses and independent projects, including collections that have been highlighted in international art and olfaction awards, where his signature often explores mineral facets, modern woods and richly textured spicy–resinous accords with strong personality.
