Sylvie Fischer-Desuzinge is a French perfumer who quite literally grew up in fragrance: the daughter of a perfumer-creator, she spent her childhood surrounded by blotters, concentrates and lab bottles, in a family where perfume was part of everyday life. After finishing high school she enrolled at ISIP, but when the school transformed into ISIPCA and paused admissions, she had to find another way to pursue her calling.
She began with internships at houses such as Robertet and IFF, and in 1982 joined Takasago, where she received a traditional, on-the-job education under two major masters, Pierre Bourdon and Michel Almairac, who trained her in both theory and practice. She has remained with Takasago ever since, specialising in fine fragrances while also composing for luxury cosmetics—a demanding role that, in her words, calls for passion, time, energy and the ability to stay calm through inevitable creative frustrations.
Her olfactory world spans leather-woody and modern oriental structures to luminous florals and signature fruity accords, all built on carefully balanced, readable and elegant formulas. For Fischer-Desuzinge, perfumery is an art of passion and modesty: allowing the raw materials—not the perfumer—to take centre stage on the skin, creating scent memories that feel intense yet perfectly controlled.
