Christine Hassan

Christine Hassan is a French-American perfumer based in Brooklyn and currently a perfumer at Givaudan. Her path into fragrance is rooted in a rare dual education: at the University of Virginia she completed a BSc in Biochemistry and a BA in Studio Art—specialising in sculpture and cinematography—before earning a Master’s in Perfumery from ISIPCA.

She began her career at IFF on the marketing side, then moved into the lab as a perfumery trainee, splitting her time between Paris and New York. A subsequent move to Munich saw her join Drom in fragrance development; two years later she returned to New York as a junior perfumer. Since 2020 she has been creating at Givaudan, composing for niche houses and international brands and navigating comfortably between artistic projects and more mainstream launches.

Hassan’s Brooklyn loft doubles as a living laboratory, filled with trials that often explore citrus facets, fig nuances and textural, skin-like accords. Deeply influenced by contemporary art, sculpture and film editing, she treats each brief as a narrative to be built in light, shadow and movement, favouring bold yet readable formulas that aim to connect with the wearer on a quietly intimate, emotional level
