The stingy lady is a Russian opera, with Chaikovski music, based on Pushkin's homonymous tale. A plebeyo in love with the noble Lisa, to get money starts the countess, the Lady of Picas, the secret of the three letters they always win, and with the secret comes also a curse. It was premiered on 19 December 1890 at the Mariinski Theatre in St. Petersburg with great success.
