Ilias Ermenidis

Ilias Ermenidis is a Greek perfumer born in Constantinople, who spent his early years between Istanbul and Athens in a world of markets, spices and sea air. As a child and teenager he worked summers in his father’s flavours and fragrances factory, where his fascination with raw materials took shape and gradually evolved into a clear desire to become a perfumer.

At eighteen he moved to France to study at ISIPCA in Versailles, later continuing his training at Créations Aromatiques before joining Firmenich in Geneva and then Paris, eventually relocating to New York to focus on fine fragrance creation for international couture and niche houses. After more than two decades in the US he returned to Europe and is now a Principal Perfumer at dsm-firmenich, described by colleagues as generous, warm, extroverted and intellectually adventurous.

His style reflects Mediterranean roots and a cosmopolitan eye, blending clarity and sensuality in compositions that feel luminous, textured and quietly addictive. Deeply influenced by art and opera, Ermenidis loves to explore abstract olfactive forms and sees every project as a shared journey with the brands he works with—turning an initial spark of an idea into a living, emotional trail on the skin.
